The Institution of Engineering and Technology
The Institution of Engineering and Technology (The IET) is one of the world’s largest engineering institutions with over 163,000 members in 127 countries. It is also the most multidisciplinary – to reflect the increasingly diverse nature of engineering in the 21st century.
The IET is working to engineer a better world by inspiring, informing and influencing our members, engineers and technicians, and all those who are touched by, or touch, the work of engineers.
The IET India office started operations in 2006, in Bengaluru. With over 11,000 members, IET India has the largest membership base for the IET outside of the UK. The vision for IET India is to become the most relevant and therefore the most preferred international institution for engineering and technology professionals in India.
Through the setting up of advisory panels for sectors in Energy, Transport, Education and Internet of Things (IoT), IET India is striving to provide essential intelligence to stakeholders in industry, academia and the government. The objective is to help them to solve sector related problems for the larger benefit of society.
As a trusted source of Essential Engineering Intelligence ®, the IET provides a range of world-renowned publications and information services.
Tailored membership packages, relevant to specific career stages makes the IET a Professional Home for Life ®, for engineers and technicians.
In its endeavour to recognise and promote excellence, the IET awards £500,000 in prizes scholarships and medals each year, enabling engineering endeavour and rewarding achievement.
